Majid al Toky
Resident managing partner, Trowers & Hamlins, Oman
Majid al Toky has been appointed as Trowers & Hamlins (T&H) resident managing partner in Oman. Toky joined the Muscat office of T&H in 1998 after a stint with Petroleum Development Oman as as legal advisor. Toky is a company and commercial lawyer with an expertise in the oil and gas, engineering projects and telecom. Says Toky, “T&H has long been the leading firm in Oman. I am determined to drive the business on and I am delighted that the firm has demonstra-ted its confidence in me by appointing me to this important position.”

Toky will lead the largest team amongst T&H’s five Middle East offices. Majid was the first Arab national to rise to the rank of partner in the firm and now becomes the first Omani national to lead the firm’s office in Oman.

Following a distinguished career and extensive background in internatio-nal resort and business hotel management, Vella Ramasawmy has now joined Grand Hyatt Muscat as general manager of the property. Prior to his arrival in Oman, Ramasawmy was the resident manager of Park Hyatt Melbourne. It was there that peers and Hyatt International Management noticed his demonstrated flair for leadership and staff motivation, leading to his first appointment as general manager after just 11 years with the company.
