Michael Townshend
president, BP Oman

Michael Townshend, until recently the chief executive officer of the Baku-Tibilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Pipeline Company, will now oversee the establishment of BP's exploration and production operations in Oman and the implementation of a multi-year programme to appraise the Khazzan and Makarem gas fields. Says Townshend, who has 26 years of experience with BP, “We look forward to setting up our operations over the next few months, and begin the appraisal work, which includes conducting extended well tests, later this year.”

Werner Koch
CEO, Al Hashar Group of Companies

Koch, who has worked in nearly every division of the automobile industry, has been an active driving force in establishing automobile agencies within the Gulf region in the past two decades. He has a Masters Degree in Automobile Technique and also in Business Administration and Economics. Says Koch about his current appointment in Oman, "Our present aim is to build a strong team at all levels for the professional functioning of our daily operations and to be well prepared for additional business and challenges ahead."

H E Sheikh Mohammed al Harthy
chairman of board of directors, Gulf Air

The sultanate’s Minister of Transport and Communication, H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla al Harthy, has taken over as chairman of the Gulf Air board of directors. H E Harthy, who was formerly the deputy chairman of the board, assumed the chairmanship as part of an annual rotation between the two owning states, the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman. Abdul Aziz Jassim Kanoo, who was the head of the board, is now deputy chairman.

ANDRÉ DOSÉ
CEO, Gulf Air

Dosé is an airline industry veteran with more than 30 years experience in the aviation business. Says Dosé, "During the past three years I continued my involvement in the airline industry through a number of consulting jobs. But to return to the top of an international airline is a source of great satisfaction and a challenge.” Prior to commercial pilot training in the US, Dosé attended aviation school in Geneva. Upon his return to Switzerland, he first became a pilot for Crossair, then filled a number of mana-gement positions. He also had a stint as the CEO for the European airline.

Abdulaziz al Balushi
CEO, Alliance Housing Bank

The former deputy CEO from National Bank of Oman has now moved to the top spot at Alliance Housing Bank.

Sunil Mutreja
CEO, ADINC

Mutreja, who joined AdInc in 2006, will be leaving the company. He had come to Oman after a stint with a leading Hindi newspaper in India.

Sami AL Zadjali
marketing manager, Bank Dhofar

Zadjali, who spent over 13 years as marketing manager with the Oman International Bank, has recently moved to Bank Dhofar.
