Ringing in style

Mobile phones are no longer just devices to make and receive calls. They are now offices away from office, mini computers, cameras and even camcorders that also let you make phone calls. Here's a look at some of the most awaited ones this year.

Ultra Smart F700

With its newest handset Ultra Smart F700, Samsung has joined the club of touchscreen mobile phone manufacturers. The phone features a 2.8-inch 440x240 screen to control calling, Internet access and music functions. Media playback support includes multiple AAC audio formats, Real, and variants of MPEG-4, including H.264. F700 includes a slide-out keyboard to accommodate typing. And that is not all. The phone has a five megapixel camera with autofocus.

I-MATE ULTIMATE 7150

The new i-mate Ultimate line up will be noticed even by the most jaded techie out there and it’s hard not to fall for the groovy designs. So look out for the five new Ultimate handsets which include models: Ultimate 5150, Ultimate 6150, Ultimate 7150, Ultimate 8150 and Ultimate 9150. Inspired by iBook, Ultimate 7150 PC Tablet, which boasts of a 3.8-inch internal display, enables you to use your phone to access and control your PC or laptop, as a secondary display for Vista, or even as a Media Extender, letting you watch all your pre-recorded movies, TV, and video on the phone via a WiFi or 3G connection.

Nokia 7380

Nokia 7380 is the top one in L'Amore collection and maintains the same idea as its predecessor. Designed to capture attention, this masterpiece features a sensual fusion of leather accents, etched motifs and shimmering surfaces. Also, capture the spotlight with a two megapixel camera. The unusual form of the small case makes Nokia 7380 a unique device in the market. The design is unusual and the phone looks like a small rectangular bar. The front part is glassy, it can be used as a usual mirror.

iPhone

Probably the most awaited mobile phone of the year, the iPhone has arrived. The phone features a mobile phone, an iPod, and puts the Internet in your pocket with desktop-class email, web browsing, searching and maps. And iPhone makes it all easy to use with its multi-touch user interface. iPhone syncs with your PC or Mac just like an iPod, so organising your content now will help you start calling, texting, emailing, surfing, listening, and watching even faster when you get your iPhone.

Rizr Z8

Motorola has introduced a new phone design, which slides open and bends to bring the microphone closer to the user's mouth. The new high-speed wireless Rizr Z8, unveiled at the 3GSM wireless trade show in Barcelona, slides open to reveal a keyboard and, unlike traditional sliders, it has an automatic hinge that tilts the keyboard and locks the phone into a V-shape to make it easier to talk into. The Rizr Z8 will also support television-quality video playback and has a slot for a memory card with up to 4GB storage space.
