Hilal al Ahsani
CEO, Public Establishment for Industrial Estates


The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) has appointed Hilal al Ahsani as its new CEO. Previously employed at the Ministry of Commerce & Industry as the Director General of Industry, al Ahsani plans to make a positive impact at PEIE. He says, “I look forward to working with colleagues across a wide spectrum of organisations to develop facilities that support the manufacturing and hi-tech sectors.”

Andrew Bainbridge
CEO, BankMuscat International


Andrew Bainbridge has taken over as the CEO of Bahrain-based BankMuscat International (BMI). Bainbridge brings with him a wealth of experience having spent the past 18 years with Barclays across UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East In his previous role, Bainbridge was the CEO for emerging markets following his role as COO and commercial banking director for retail and commercial banking, new markets.

Abdullah Al Omairi
GM, Omani Unified Bureau

Abdullah al Omairi is the new general manager of Omani Unified Bureau. He has previously worked as a customer service manager and motor claims manager with ONIC, later moving to Dhofar Insurance Company where he was the branch department manager. He is a member of the Motor Insurance Committee and Arabian Unified Bureaus at the General Arab Insurance Federation, Cairo.

Philip Raju
CEO, International Medical Centre


Lama Polyclinic has appointed Philip Raju as the CEO of International Medical Centre, which was acquired recently. Raju was previously the general manager of Lama. He has spent the last 35 years in the medical industry across Europe, India and the Middle East. Raju took over Lama in 1992, and was instrumental in expanding the organisation. Prior to that he was based in Saudi Arabia.

Scott Pickering
CEO for Asia and Middle East, Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance


Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance (R&SA) has appointed Scott Pickering as CEO for Asia and Middle East. He will be based in Dubai. Scott joins from ACE Insurance where he was most recently CEO of ACE Insurance South Africa. Previously, he held several other senior positions at ACE including, regional president, Far East and Japan, and president and CEO, Hong Kong, and regional director South East Asia.

Syed Sohraab Hasnain

The moment one walks into a Volkswagen showroom a salesperson takes charge. Not only does he get a fix of the customers needs but also suggests a suitable model. The new sales system called Wattayah system in official parlance, is all about taking charge of a customer from the word go. It is one of the several initiatives introduced by Syed Sohraab Hasnain, since he took over as brand manager, Volkswagen in 2006. He joined Zubair Automotive in 1997. “Having started my career with one the biggest automotive distributors in Dubai gave me a flair for marketing,” says Hasnain. He cut his teeth in auto marketing selling brands like Honda and Jeep at Al Futtaim Motors, Dubai. He went on to win the exceptional efforts award at Al Futtaim in 1986. Despite having spent 23 years in the industry, he still has proverbial fire in his belly – “I want to achieve more,” he says unabashedly. Given his passion and experience one can rest assured that Hasnain will scale greater heights.
