The race is on
The value of any survey is as much in the little details as it is in the larger picture it provides. Perhaps the real story lies in the little details. That is why we decided to go a bit more into the details this year than just provide you with the points each brand has scored. The automobile sector is an example. This is one sector where most have given up hopes of finding a change in the lineup. Year after year, Toyota is the topper with Mercedes and BMW in the runners-up position. This year too, the top three remain the same. The only difference is that BMW has replaced Merc as the first runner-up after three years.
King Toyota, but…
On the face of it, the results are similar to that of last year, or the year before that. Yet, a closer look at the data throws up some interesting facts – one of which is that the gap between various players is minimal among some segments. So while Toyota remains the market leader across the board, it is a narrow win in the women and Omani respondent segments, as the pie charts illustrate. It is definitely a close race between Toyota, BMW and Mercedes among nationals and ladies. Interestingly, while Toyota remains the leader in the under-35 sector, its score has gone down. This is the only segment where it has scored fewer points than 2006.
