Camera, action

As temperatures start to climb it’s time to plan a holiday to escape the heat. BusinessToday offers a roundup of the best new cameras to take on holiday

Casio Exilim EX-Z9
The new Casio Exilim EX-Z9 is as compact and portable as its name implies. With 8.1 megapixels, this stylish point-and-shoot camera has 3x optical zoom to help get the perfect picture. The camera has a user-friendly 2.6-inch LCD screen and 23 Best Shot modes, including Face Detection technology and Easy Mode, which allows users to take sharp photos without checking presets. Additional features range from Anti Shake DSP (which reduces photo blur from shaky hands or moving subjects) to 18.6MB of on-board memory.

Nikon Coolpix S600
Nikon’s Coolpix S600 is a stylish and compact new camera that has swift start-up time, advanced functions and outstanding photographic performance. The ten-megapixel camera delivers high-speed auto-focus performance and has large, user-friendly buttons and a 2.7-inch LCD monitor. Among its features are Image Stabilisation, which helps achieve sharper results and different scene modes such as Active Child mode; and three movie modes.

Sony DSC-H50
Sony’s latest high-zoom camera is the 9.1 megapixel DSC-H50 digital camera. This new model has a powerful Carl Zeiss 15x optical zoom lens with technology that allows you to capture action at a distance. The camera also has a large, three-inch tilting LCD screen, which enables users to shoot from both low and high angles. The camera’s long-distance flash is capable of illuminating subjects more than 16 metres away. It has other features to improve pictures, too, including improved Smile Shutter and Face Detection technologies and Intelligent Scene Recognition with standard and advanced modes to analyse shooting conditions and select the optimal setting automatically.

Olympus E-420
Small and portable, the Olympus E-420 has a number of features including enhanced autofocus Live View, which enables users to hold the camera away from their faces and interact with their subjects – useful for taking photos of children, for example. The ultra-compact, lightweight camera also has a bigger, 2.7-inch LCD and Face Detection, which is ideal for portraits as it distinguishes between faces and backgrounds and Shadow Adjustment Technology (which prevents photos from being too dark or overexposed)
