Etihad heads down E-Way
You can now book tickets from home if you want to fly with Etihad. The Abu Dhabi based airline has recently announced that it will be introducing e-ticketing for all passengers. The implementation follows a successful fast-track project undertaken over the last four months.
"E-ticketing will simplify the way passengers organise and book their travel," said Peter Baumgartner, head of marketing, Etihad Airways.
The introduction of the new system has also ensured that the airline will be able to meet the IATA's deadline – end 2007 – for international and domestic airlines to shift from conventional ticketing to e-ticketing only. Etihad recently conducted trials with employees on selected international routes to ensure that the system works flawlessly. When checking in for a flight, passengers flying with Etihad will just need to present their passport and e-ticket confirmation number. The relevant boarding passes will then be issued. Enabling passengers to amend their flight details up to 30 minutes before minimum check-in times will provide greater convenience.
