While rain has thrown the capital – and much of the northeast coast of Oman – off balance, it is still the most important occurance in Dhofar. Indeed, an entire industry in the south of the sultanate stands poised, waiting for the monsoon, and the tourists who will follow.
But it is also a pity that the draw of Dhofar is perceived to be so seasonal. This region has everything to offer: mountains, deserts and the most breathtaking coast in Oman. Explore its lesser-known attractions with us this month, and you can pair them up with all the usual tourist attractions that come alive with every khareef. Dhofar just got even more attractive.
