Geography might be beautiful, but after 27 years of exploration across the sultanate, Oman Today is aiming for more depth than the blankness of landscape. Over our travels, we’ve come to realise that while rock and sand can be examined and enjoyed, the lives they host deserve a story too.
You will find such depth in the sun-baked nooks and crannies of the mountains between Al Amerat and Wadi Tayyin, where a goatherd founded a village – and educated his children. We continue with such scope across the other pages in this issue too, from the women bakers of Dhofar to headgear styles across tribes to the most exceptional restaurants in Muscat.
Some of the best stories are in the little details, the everyday lives, the space between rocks. And we’re looking closer than ever before.
