I have known Ali al Mingi for years now, and the first time I met him he was just another young man playing pool on a Thursday night in Muscat. He probably wouldn’t have the time for that now.
Over the years, he has slogged through the backbreaking rigours of the oil rigs, rising through the ranks and, along the way, finding himself too. We have shared barbecues, bike trips and forays into Wadi Tayyin, and his tribe will welcome you as they did me with shade and refreshment should you venture to Qafifa.
