We’ve been struggling around words and images ever since pre-history, scratching our messages into the rocks of wadi walls and the insides of caves. And one of the things we’ve learnt over the ages is that while writing is powerful and images can be beautiful, nothing succeeds as much as when both come together.

It is the reason why shooting and writing for this magazine is just the beginning of a process, and why we explore the graphic novel in this issue. You will find such thought and expression through the magazine �from the work of young painters to the redesigned abaya �and in the way we put it together.
